Westlake Country Club, formerly Lost Creek Country Club, has undergone a remarkable transformation. With a redesigned golf course by Lanny Wadkins, a renovated clubhouse, upgraded fitness facilities, and expanded dining and social amenities, this established Austin golf club has entered a new era.
But is the $100,000 initiation fee worth it?
Nicole Cooper, former University of Texas collegiate golfer and owner of NBC Realty, takes an insider's look at Westlake Country Club, its membership costs, golf experience, and surrounding Lost Creek real estate.
Golf, Lifestyle & Membership
Located in the heart of West Austin, Westlake Country Club offers something increasingly difficult to find: private golf with convenient access to downtown Austin.
The redesigned course emphasizes strategy and accuracy over distance, winding through the beautiful Texas Hill Country alongside Barton Creek.
At the time of Nicole's review, golf membership initiation was approximately $100,000, with monthly dues around $1,100. As part of the Invited network, eligible members may also enjoy access to participating clubs and amenities beyond Austin.
Beyond golf, members enjoy tennis, pickleball, fitness facilities, swimming, dining, and an active social environment.
Living in Lost Creek: Real Estate & Eanes ISD
The surrounding Lost Creek neighborhood is one of Austin's established residential communities, offering mature trees, dramatic Hill Country views, and access to highly regarded Eanes ISD.
Housing options range from golf course condominiums to multimillion-dollar luxury homes. Many properties feature unique hillside architecture, elevated decks, and beautiful natural surroundings.
However, buyers should understand that the neighborhood's terrain can mean steep lots, multilevel homes, and limited usable backyard space.
Is Westlake Country Club Right for You?
According to Nicole, Westlake Country Club is particularly appealing to three types of buyers:
- The Central Austin golfer who wants private golf without moving farther into the suburbs.
- The lifestyle-focused household seeking golf, fitness, racquet sports, dining, and social activities in one place.
- The long-term Westlake buyer who values an established neighborhood, proximity to downtown, and Eanes ISD.
With only one golf course, a significant initiation fee, and predominantly older surrounding homes, Westlake isn't for everyone. But for the right buyer, its combination of location, golf, and lifestyle is hard to beat.
